Every couple weeks, there is an emergency in our house. The Diet Coke is almost gone and we have to figure out where it is on sale that day. It is always on sale somewhere. Nominally, Diet Coke costs like $6 for a 12-can pack. But between Safeway, Target, Lucky, Longs, Walgreens,... it is always possible to get them for closer to $3. Every week, the mailers come to our house announcing the sales, and we scour them with a single purpose - always finding one that saves the day.
Well, almost always. Sometimes you have to buy a $6 stopgap or 2. But if you were willing to brave the chaos of Costco, there was always a reliable option (they sold 32-packs, but translating to 12-pack currency, it was about $3.50). Alarming news today, Costco to stop carrying Coke!! Now, there is no plan B. Now it becomes more critical than ever to know the spot price of Diet Coke in every store.
I have long thought that there is a huge opportunity here. Similar to the way that you can easily go online and find the gas prices at every gas station (I assume the data is crowd-sourced) and know the cheapest one in your area, I cannot believe nobody has built this service for Coke. I know for a fact there are millions of users on day one.
