Projected 2013 MLB Standings

Continuing and refining the methods from the previous post, here are the projected standings for both leagues, as of the start of spring training.  I'm so happy baseball finally started.

The runs (+24) and wins (+16) are slightly out of balance, but this is more or less square.  A lot of projections systems have published their individual results now.  Rotochamp is a good place to see all the results for a player.  Or fangraphs.  But most places don't seem to take this last step and get to the team results.

What's interesting here?  Well, I don't see Toronto running away with anything.  They look just fairly good, but that's all.   They got a few players, but they were really not good last year and most of the roster is those guys.  Cleveland, kind of same story.  A few new guys that are good, but the base is just not strong.  Detroit should run away with the division, and have a good shot at the league, but several NL teams look stronger.  Josh Hamilton remains literally one man, so the improvement in the Angels is minimal, as is the degradation in Texas.  The Astros and the Marlins both completely gave up this year, but the Astros look a little better and it ends up the Marlins bringing up the rear.
Over in the NL, Washington looks like the best team in baseball, with just fantastic pitching (assuming Haren is healthy enough, and Gonzalez doesn't get suspended) and pretty strong balanced offense.  Cincinnati is right there with them.  They have the clear best offense in the NL, and the pitching is pretty decent (assuming Chapman transitions decently to starter)
The Dodgers makeover on the other hand, looks real.    As a Dodger fan, this is comforting.  I did not give them any benefits of the doubt.  In fact, I'm hopeful some of their questions get resolved favorably and they get past the very strong Washington & Cincinnati squads.   The Giants are a notch worse than the Dodgers on both sides of the ball, but they look a good bet for the wildcard.  Arizona looks OK, but comes up short on talent (grit, they have).
